As it is each year, one of the on-campus highlights of autumn was Homecoming, and one of the annual highlights of Homecoming was honoring Distinguished Alumni by the Louisiana Tech Alumni Association.
These honorees were most deserving, as has been the case since the Alumni Association first recognized Distinguished Alumni in 1968.
Alumnus of the Year was Kyle McDonald, Founder and CEO of Argent Financial Group, Class of 1981.
William T. “Will” Dearmon, President and CEO of the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Class of 2013, was Young Alumnus of the Year.
Distinguished Alumnus of the Year, College of Business, was Richard “Dick” Fowler, retired Executive Vice President and CFO of Texas Industries, Inc., Class of 1965.
Don Metz, Sr., Vice President and Chief Geologist of Arena Energy, Class of 1979, was the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year for the College of Engineering and Science.
Ann Metz, Special Needs Educator and Academic Advisor, Class of 1978, was the Distinguished Alumnae in the College of Education and Human Sciences.
Shannon C. Boyer, retired Social Gerontologist of Central Arkansas AAA, Class of 1976, was the Distinguished Alumnae in the College of Applied and Natural Sciences
Distinguished Alumnus of the Year in the College of Liberal Arts was Lee Kinnebrew, IV, Vice President Flight Operations of Southwest Airlines, Class of 1992.
The recipients were honored during Homecoming week at a luncheon in the Davison Athletics Complex, then in the Loyal Blue March and Homecoming Parade, and on the field during the football game.
