Louisiana Tech University President Jim Henderson is integrating two of the institution’s primary external functions—University Advancement and its Innovation Enterprise—under a new senior vice president for innovation and advancement and CEO of the Louisiana Tech University Foundation. Dr. Davy Norris has been tapped to fill this vital role and provide leadership for growing and integrating innovation, public-private partnerships, philanthropy, and economic development in support of the University.
“Working together with the Louisiana Tech University Foundation Board and Executive Committee the past six months elevated this opportunity to capitalize on existing resources and personnel. Bringing these entities together promises tremendous benefit to our entire university community, our business partners, the City of Ruston, and the regional economy,” President Jim Henderson said. “Davy is a dedicated leader who has proven that he’s capable of attracting partnerships that will continue to advance Louisiana Tech’s mission.”
Norris has led Louisiana Tech’s Innovation Enterprise as the University’s chief innovation officer for more than a decade. During his tenure, the University opened Tech Pointe I and Tech Pointe II, buildings that house 18 company-tenants who regularly engage student and faculty resources to improve their business outcomes.
“Our university is well positioned to build on the success of the Innovation Enterprise and the impacts of our outstanding advancement team,” Norris said. “Integrating these operations will not only strengthen our philanthropic reach but will empower us to pursue diversified business engagements that enhance partnerships, expand experiential learning opportunities, catalyze new research collaborations, and drive economic growth in the community and the region.”
The senior vice president will lead these critical functions with the help of the University’s chief development officer and chief innovation officer. Lisa Bradley, who has served as interim vice president for advancement, will return to her role as the Foundation’s associate vice president and chief financial officer.
“We appreciate Lisa’s stalwart leadership the past year and a half,” President Henderson added. “She will continue to play a critical role in the success of our advancement enterprise.”
Norris’ new role is effective July 1.
